JULY
Buddy-Bocce1Anthony Fasano was back in Verona Parkfor his foundation’s annual Bocce Bash, and he brought a few celebrity friends including Bartolo Valastro Jr., a.k.a. Buddy, the Cake Boss. Buddy tossed a few balls and treated the 24 participating teams to a four-tier bocce-themed cake. (See: Bocce With Buddy). There were edibles of a different sort at Morgan’s Farm, where Verona’s John Ostering began culivating a wide variety of tasty organic crops (he’ll be back in the fields this coming summer). And in government, Councilman Michael Nochimson filed a police report after receiving a threatening phone call from Township Manager Joseph Martin and Verona’s town attorney tried to block the release of the report to the press. Nochimson and Martin later agreed to mediation in the case and, in September, Martin made an apology at the Town Council meeting.
