This is a statement issued by the Verona Police Department:
“At approximately 7:04 p.m., Verona Police, Fire and Rescue Squad personnel responded to a West Lincoln Street address on a report of a tree that fell, striking 2 people. Arriving personnel found that a tree in the rear of the residence had uprooted and landed on a 61-year-old male and his 6-month-old grandson.
Both individuals passed as a result of their injuries.
The Verona Police, Fire and Rescue Squad’s thoughts are focused on the family during this difficult and unfathomable tragic time. Please keep this family in your prayers.
