Mrs. Ann M. (nee Durell) Brillhart, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at home in West Caldwell, surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 4 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 10 Fairview Avenue, Verona. A repast will follow service in Chamberlain Hall.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts to Thayer and Ivy (nee Hoyt) Durell, Mrs. Brillhart grew up in Rumford, Rhode Island and lived in Verona, New Jersey from 1958 to 2022, when she moved to West Caldwell.

She graduated from East Providence High School and earned a nursing certificate as a registered nurse from the Rhode Island School of Nursing in 1951. She worked at Mountainside Hospital for 42 years as a registered nurse and supervising nurse until her retirement in 1999.

Mrs. Brillhart was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, the United Presbyterian Women, and the Bellclaire Lanes Bowling League. She was an avid mahjong player at the Verona Community Center and enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family. She loved playing cards and board games with anyone and everyone. She was also the #1 fan and supporter of her children and grandchildren and attended every sporting event. She also liked spending time at the Jersey Shore with long, lazy days at the beach.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Walter Lewis Brillhart; loving children, Marilyn O’Neill (Thomas) and David Brillhart (Lisa); cherished grandchildren, Gregory O’Neill, Stephen O’Neill, Robert O’Neill, Brian O’Neill, Jake Brillhart and Nick Brillhart; and cherished great-grandchildren, Caroline O’Neill, and Daniel O’Neill. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Lake and her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to: Grace Hospice, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and Minette’s Angels would be appreciated.
