There are more than a few commercial properties in Verona that need a makeover. In February, Town Manager Joe Martin floated a plan for a bank and coffee shop to replace the long-vacant Poekel Travel Bureau. That didn’t elicit much enthusiasm from readers and the year ended with nothing new on the site. Ditto a plan to turn the former Cinema 23 into a strip mall. What did make it to the finish line? The VHS girls winter track team, which won the state sectionals.
