The driver’s car flipped near the corner of Franklin and Fairview.

On the last day of October, a driver under the influence sideswiped a parked car belonging to Verona’s superintendent of schools, Rui Dionisio. That would have been bad enough, except that the Verona Police learned, when they extricated the young man from his overturned car, that the same driver had sideswiped a car belonging to a Board of Education employee just the day before.

News and feature stories vied for the attention of MyVeronaNJ.com readers last month, as did the passing of two well-known fellow citizens. As always, readers devoted a great deal of attention to our reporting on the rising real estate market in town.

Every month, MyVeronaNJ.com looks at what our readers have been reading, and we let you know if you have to catch up on them. Here’s what you might have missed in October 2014:

  1. Fairview Driver Totals Super’s Car: A motorist on Fairview Avenue sideswiped a car belonging to Verona’s superintendent of schools before flipping his car near the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Franklin Street.
  2. Dodd Terrace Residents Complain About Music: Two residents, including a leader of the group trying to block work on the lower football field, called the Verona Police Department to complain about the sounds coming from the field just before game time.

  5. 7 Bedrooms, Anyone?: An unusually large home hit the market, and those of us who have been in town for a while remember it once was home to a family with almost that many children.
  6. Condo Or Castle?: Was it the seven condominium listings that drew readers to this story, or the glamorous townhouse in the shadow of Kip’s Castle?
  7. Manners Go Missing As Developer Returns: Dennis Handel was back before the Verona Planning Board and his new hearing was fraught with some ill-mannered behavior–but not by Handel.
  8. Verona Adoption Story On ‘Good Morning America’: Samantha Futerman and her long-lost twin sister, Anaïs Bordier, have been working on a movie about their adoption (Twinsters) and they have also turned their story into a book, Separated @ Birth.
