The possibility of development on a long-vacant property was our second most widely read story. Verona Town Manager Joe Martin is working to bring a bank and coffee shop to the site of the Poekel Travel Bureau and the adjacent land controlled by the town. Neither the town nor Charles Poekel Jr. have disclosed which bank and coffee shop might be coming to the properties, which are across the street from the Verona Community Center. Readers welcomed the prospect of a coffee shop, but weren’t convinced that Verona needed another bank.
