Deborah A. Galife, a Verona resident for 62 years and a fixture in the Verona business community, passed away on March 10. Now, her friends are hoping to raise $1,500 to “adopt” a bench in her honor in Verona Park.

Eryana Hundhausen, a 1998 graduate of Verona High School who counts Galife as her best friend’s mother, says that the funds will purchase a bench plaque and go towards maintenance and improvements of Essex County Parks. “Gardening was one of Debbie’s passions, and it only seems fitting to memorialize her in a sprawling outdoor space full of natural beauty, life and laughter,” she writes on the GoFundMe page.
