Frank Riggio, a 2021 graduate of Verona HIgh School, and Jerry Strippoli, Class of 2020, are now at Penn State and they are raising money for the university’s biggest philanthropic effort: THON.

THON is the largest student-run philanthropy dedicated to supporting children and families affected by pediatric cancer. It concludes with a 46-hour no sitting/no sleeping dance marathon, which is from Friday, February 16, to Sunday, February 18.

Riggio is the primary fundraising chair of Alpha Epsilon Pi this year. “My role is to set up different fundraisers and reach out to people to donate in the fight against childhood cancer,” he says. “This money then goes towards the five families we represent to offset costs that they will endure for their child going through cancer treatment. Last year our organization raised over $163,000, which was contributed to the physical and emotional support of our families.”

Strippoli, also a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi, was chosen by members of the fraternity to be one of its dancers, after having been its primary fundraising chair last year. “This has been a Verona tradition with alumni Harrison and Jarrod Keating who were also fundraising chairs and dancers for our organization in previous years,” says Riggio, referring to two members of VHS ’19. “We would love the support from the Verona community and would appreciate it if you would be able to spread our donor drive information.”

So if you are included to support THON, Riggio’s DonorDrive link is here; for Strippoli’s, click here.
