Verona Police Promote Two

Last Tuesday, August 1, the Verona Police Department marked the promotion of two officers in a ceremony at Town Hall.

Officer Joseph Pami (right, above) was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He graduated from Verona High School in 2012 and graduated in 2016 from William Paterson University, where he was a member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society. He joined the Verona Police Department as a meter enforcement officer and dispatcher, before becoming an officer in 2017. Sgt. Pami is a certified firefighter and EMT, and been a volunteer with both the Verona Fire Department and Verona Rescue Squad.

Sgt. Christopher Scheper (left, above) was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Scheper was part of the first graduating class of the Essex County Fire Academy in 2011. He joined the Verona Police Department soon after, and has been regularly noted for his work, which has included helping to deliver a baby on one shift. Scheper was promoted to sergeant in 2019.
