We don’t yet know which teams will play in this year’s Super Bowl, but we do know this: Before the game on Sunday, February 12, the Verona Rescue Squad will once again hold its big Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.
The Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Verona Community Center Ballroom from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost is $10 per person for an all-you-can-eat array of pancakes, eggs, bacon and more. Children under 5 eat free.
The all-volunteer Verona Rescue Squad responds to thousands of calls, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. In 2022, it logged 1,406 calls. The VRS kept going through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when other town’s first responders were shut down, responding to 1,286 calls in 2020 and 1,401 in 2021. Membership in the VRS is open to anyone 16 or older, and the squad has an extensive training program for its volunteers.
The VRS’ services are free to Verona residents, and its fundraisers are an essential element of keeping things that way. You can learn more about supporting the squad or becoming a volunteer on its website.
