Amy Heckel- Apple Bourbon BBQ
I made the slow cooker sauce on a snow day, and it filled my apartment with this amazing bbq/brown sugar scent. My mouth was watering all day. However, when I ate it, it was ok. Honestly, a little bit of a let down after the amazing smell. I did use chicken instead of pork, so maybe that would make a difference, but I felt like it needed a little kick. It was maybe a little bland. If I made it again, I’d probably add some red pepper flakes and maybe a little garlic or put in less meat so there is more of a sauce left. This hasn’t totally turned me off to the sauces though, because I LOVE my slow cooker. My friend made the Hawaiian bbq one and added some bell peppers, onions and garlic to make “tiki tacos.” I think that would be my next try – or the Korean BBQ.
