Polling Places May Change

In Verona, we cast our ballots at polling places in the public schools. But with several schools without power as a result of Hurricane Sandy, Verona has had to envision a contingency plan for voting on Tuesday, November 6.

If necessary, voters who usually vote at Forest Avenue elementary school will go instead to the Community Center at 880 Bloomfield Avenue. H.B. Whitehorne voting will be switched to Town Hall and F.N. Brown voters would go to Verona High School. Laning and Brookdale voters would not be affected because those schools have power. The final decision on polling places will be made later today, Saturday, November 3.

In addition, the Christie administration is encouraging New Jersey voters to take advantage of the extended weekend hours at New Jersey’s county elections offices to cast their vote before Election Day.

Registered New Jersey voters can vote in-person by visiting their county clerk’s office no later than 3 p.m. Monday. Once they receive a ballot from their clerk’s office, voters will be able to complete their ballot and immediately deliver it to their county board of elections office. In a directive issued yesterday by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, county election offices are to remain open, at a minimum, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through November 5, and are to take all reasonable measures to inform voters of the extended hours.
