Mr. John “Jack” O’Brien, 71, died on Monday, October 22, 2012 at his home in Verona. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Friday, October 26 at 9:30 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home,370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Born in East Orange, Mr. O’Brien lived in Montclair and North Caldwell prior to moving to Verona in 1967. He was a carpenter and millwright with the Carpenters-Millwright Union, Local 1342 in Bloomfield, retiring in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1960 to 1966 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2561 in Caldwell.

Mr. O’Brien is the husband of Karin (nee Nordquist) O’Brien, the father of John D. O’Brien and Kyle A. O’Brien (his wife, Valerie). He is the brother of Virginia Gorman, Eileen Mattarazzo, Dennis O’Brien Joseph O’Brien, the late Vincent and David. He is also survived by his granddaughter Morgan O’Brien and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Barnabas Hospice would be appreciated.
