If you are looking for the perfect gift for your child’s teacher, look no further. H.B. Whitehorne Middle School librarian Jen Kleinknecht has created a one-stop shopping site for Giving Tuesday.
“Last year, parents were extremely generous,” Kleinknecht says. “Word spread throughout HBW that creating a wishlist was a great way to fund a classroom. As more and more teachers started to create wishlists, I decided to organize everything into one convenient site for parents to browse during holiday time and throughout the year.”
“While the Verona Board of Education is very generous in providing for students,” Kleinknecht adds, “we teachers often dip into our pockets to buy prizes, restock supplies, and keep our classroom libraries and decor fresh. In the past, parents have seen items on our wishlists that were similar to things around the house that they were about to discard. Creating a wishlist gives the community a chance to see inside the classrooms of our dreams.”
Many teachers want to add flexible seating to classrooms. Others are asking for books and manipulatives. Nadia Domenick just really wants a high-end pencil sharpener. “Receiving packages from my wishlist last year was such fun,” she says. “I loved opening up the packages and discovering who my ‘Secret Santa’ was.”
The wishlists are here. They are organized by grade and teacher, with additional sections for Counseling, Special Education, Speech-Language Services, the HBW Library and world languages teachers. Check back to see if teachers have added new supplies, and see if other teachers have caught wishlist fever.
