On Saturday, October 21, the Verona Lions Club contributed medical equipment and supplies to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee for shipment to Ukraine. The Lions donated hospital beds, walkers, crutches, commodes, shower chairs, wheelchairs, wheelchair ramps and Hoyer lifts, along with a variety of medical supplies. These supplies will be transported via container ships to hospitals that will assist victims of the war in Ukraine.
Verona residents Motria, Andrew and Zoriana Horodysky enabled the Lions to make this contribution possible. Lion President Robert Mathers, and members Les Williams, Andy Burger and Myron Spector assisted, along with Councilman Jack McEvoy.
The United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, based in Philadelphia, is a nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian relief to victims of the war in Ukraine.
