The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a boil water notice for Verona, effective immediately town officials say.
The alert comes in the wake of a significant break in a Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) main in Little Falls.
Verona has been getting its water from PVWC reservoirs since its wells were shut down in August 2021. Verona must install a new filtration system on those wells.
Why has Verona not installed the new required filtration system for its own wells???

It would be helpful to know exactly what is meant by “boil water notice”. Does it need to be brought to boil then cooled, or boiled for an amount of time before cooling to drink?
Bring water to a rolling boil for one minute, cool, and then use.
They have to follow the same guidelines.

This source says main break. NorthJersey dot com reports no break, just pumping station malfunction. What’s the story?
In a post to Instagram on August 7, the Passaic Valley Water Commission said there had been a main break at its Little Falls pumping station.
Is it safe to drink filtered water from the refrigerator?
Check with the Montclair Health Department, which handles community health issues for Verona.
For the editor ,what is your best estimate for when the “full story” is printed?

Even though MyVeronaNJ has done several stories on Verona’s water quality and water issues, we put out a new story this morning that recaps why we are getting water from PVWC.
