Back in 2016, a group of Verona elementary school children created a community service group called Verona Kids Rock and held a lemonade stand. They added their own twist to the time-honored fundraising idea by not only selling lemonade, but hand delivering it door-to-door with a friendly smile.
Four years later, many of the original members of Verona Kids Rock have moved on to H.B. Whitehorne Middle School and so they decided that they needed a new name. They are now #VERONAROCKS and this past Saturday, while families picked up t-shirts with the group’s new name, they decided to add a lemonade stand once again. This time, the kids recruited customers by riding bikes throughout their neighborhood and raised $275. The money was donated yesterday to the HBW Kindness Campaign, which was created to honor the community spirit of the school’s namesake, Dr. Henry B. Whitehorne.
In the spirit of their donation, #VERONAROCKS is sharing these “Words to Remember”:
Remain Humble
Have Hope & Faith
Give Love
Stay Strong
Bring Happiness to others
Encourage Peace
Share a Smile
Spread Kindness
