This week will be an historic one for Verona’s public schools: On Monday, January 28, Verona will begin full-day kindergarten. The ballot proposal to expand Verona’s kindergarten program from extended hours to a full day passed last November by 2,873 yes votes to 2,139 no.

Also of note this week, the special Planning Board meeting on Thursday will focus on whether to designate the Spectrum 360 property at the corner of Sunset and Bloomfield avenues as an area in need of redevelopment. The former Children’s Institute could become the site of 300 new apartments, including 60 units that would qualify as affordable housing.
