Here’s what’s going on at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona in November:
Sunday, November 1: The first Sunday of every month is Family Sunday as the church celebrates All Saints Sunday and light candles to remember those who are no longer with us. The senior choir will sing “Down To the River To Pray”.
Sunday, November 8: The Rev. Bob Pryor will be preaching. The senior choir will be singing the anthem “Alleluia! Praise With Glad Music” by J.Rankin & W. Tomer. Teen Discussion Group will meet during the service.
Sunday, November 15: Stewardship Sunday will be celebrated. The senior choir will sing the anthems “Be Thou My Vision” by Craig Courtney and “Go Out And Serve Him” by Don Besig and Nancy Price. At 3 p.m. the Alacorde Trio (piano, violin and cello) will be presenting a community concert at the church. Admission is free, but a $10 goodwill offering is suggested.
Sunday, November 22: The church will be celebrating Christ the King Sunday as well as the coming of thanksgiving with special music. Guest artist Al Weber will be accompanying the youth and senior choirs on bass. The youth choirs, Joyful Noise and Sacred Singers will open the service with “There is No One Like Jesus” and “Let Us Give Thanks.” The senior choir will be performing two anthems, “Every Valley” by John Ness Beck and “Give Thanks and Glorify His Name” by L. Larsen. Teen Discussion Group will meet during the service.
Sunday, November 29: For the first Sunday in Advent the church will welcome the Rev. Edward Clydesdale to the pulpit. The service will open with a Christmas Prelude presented by Glory Ensemble member, Ashley Duhaney, on both flue and piano. The Senior Choir will be performing “Life Up Your Heads, Yet Mighty Gates” as an introit and the anthem of the day is “Waiting For Bethlehem’s Light.”
The church is located at 10 Fairview Avenue. Sunday Services begin at 10:15 a.m. There is ample parking in the lot behind the church.
The Church Thrift Shop is open for holiday shopping on Tuesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday evening 5 to 7 p.m. (closed on Thanksgiving) and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
