County election officials examined seven provisional ballots cast in the Town Council election this afternoon and they confirm a one-vote win by incumbent Bob Manley over Rich Williamson.
Manley and Williamson each got three additional votes from the ballots. (A provisional ballot happens when someone shows up to vote, but their name is not in the voter book. They are allowed to vote, but the ballot is held aside until it can be determined if the person has the right to vote.) The final vote, which will be confirmed by acting Town Clerk Sue Neale tomorrow, will be 1,012 votes for Manley and 1,011 for Williamson.
“It just goes to show that every vote counts,” said Williamson. “This is the ultimate civics lesson.”
“My congratulations to Rich for running an incredible campaign,” said Manley. “He was in Newark for the results and the first person he called was me. I want thank him for being my friend and for being an incredible asset to the town.”
“I appreciate everybody who helped me, who worked on the cmapaing and gave me advice,” Manley added. “I want to continue to do what I can to make the town as good as it could be.”
