Brace For A Cold School Opening

F.N. Brown Elementary School is still, as of 4 p.m. Sunday, without power. H.B. Whitehorne two-thirds of its power back. Soon, very soon, parents will get the Global Connect call that details the plan for reopening Verona’s public schools tomorrow.

But one thing is clear: After a week of school buildings being closed by Hurricane Sandy, and freezing temperatures expected overnight, you’ll need to dress the kids warmly to go to school and be at their desks.

Power is back on to several Verona streets that were without electricity this morning, including stretches of South Prospect, Halstead, Pease, Howard, Maple and parts of Morningside and Hillside.  Here’s hoping that the rest will be back on soon.
