Matthew James Rizzo, 31, died on October 28, 2012 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover of injuries as a result of a motorcycle accident in Jefferson Township.

A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Avenue, Verona on Monday, November 5 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Born and raised in Denville, Matt lived in Rockaway for 8 years prior to moving to the Lake Forest section of Jefferson 7 months ago.

He was a stone setter with the International Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Union, Local #1 in New York City for the past 12 years.

Matt had many interests and hobbies. Along with his love for motorcycling, he enjoyed boating, target shooting, dirt biiking, home improvement projects and much more. He was honored and thrilled to become a member of the Tri County Motorcycle Club. He was an avid Yankees fan and loved his two dogs, Reilly and Deagan. He was looking forward to becoming Kim’s husband and loved her deeply. Matt treasured, and was treasured by, his mother and sister along with his entire family. His many cousins will have fond memories of him forever! Matt had a “million” friends but his closest were dear to his heart. He will be greatly missed by all.

Matt was predeceased by his father, Gary Rizzo, in 2011. He is survived by his mother, Anne Marie Rizzo “Amy” (nee Burns), his fianc, Kimberly Junkermeier, and his sister, Sandra Rizzo. He is also survived by his grandmother, Pearl Burns and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
