On Saturday, October 20, several Verona United teamsĀ representedĀ our town at the 19th annual Mount Olive Halloween Classic soccer tournament. Participating boys and girls teams included the U9 Red Devils, the U10 Comets, the U9 Devils, the U11 Cobras, and the U11 Cyclones.

The teams traded in their traditional maroon-and-whiteĀ uniformsĀ for Halloween-themed shirts, face paint and colored hair spray. The soccer teams played two games during the tournament based on their flight. Some highlights from the team coaches and managers are:

  • The U9 Red Devils scored two wins over both the Randolph Hurricanes and the Glen Ridge Reds, with 13 total goals scored and only 2 goals conceded. The Red Devils’ Ā record this fall currently stands at 9-2-1 and they are holding strong in first place in their Northern Counties U9B league. Excellent offensive and defensive performances from all 12 Red Devils has consistently contributed to the stellar record of this year’s team.
  • The U10 Comets have a season record thus far of 2-2-0 and the and the U11 girls had a blast at the Haunted Shootout.
