Hot From The Kettle, a Montclair-based food blog, is reporting that Epernay is closing on October 28. The French bistro was owned until a month ago by Verona resident Franco Del Barba, who added a take-out window for crepes and other French fast food over the summer. Del Barba is now at Salute, the Montclair Italian restaurant that spun out Salugo Bistro in Verona this fall.

The sign on the window at Epernay, which is near the Montclair YMCA on Park Street, says the restaurant was unable to renew its lease.

UPDATE: This story was updated to reflect the fact that Franco Del Barba was not the owner of Epernay at the time of its closing.
