American Express has declared Saturday, November 26 “Small Business Saturday”: A day when consumers can take a break from the regional and national chains shop the businesses in their community. The financial services giant has been handing out stickers to retailers so that they can display them in their windows to signify that they are part of the day. But since there’s no way to search for these businesses through the Small Business Saturday Web site, you’d have to go door by door through Verona to find them.

So we decided to do some of the legwork for you: We compiled a list of our businesses in Verona and those businesses owned by Veronans but located in other communities. Some of these businesses have traditional locations, others exist only on the Internet. And while we have included locally owned franchises of national chains, we have not listed businesses wholly owned by national corporations.
