The Verona Clergy Council is planning its first-ever Interfaith Iftar on Wednesday, April 3, at 6:15 p.m. in the Verona Community Center Ballroom. In the Islamic tradition, an Iftar is the meal eaten at sundown after a day of fasting, especially during Ramadan. If you wish to join in this event, please contact one of the clergy leaders at the houses of worship listed below.
The Verona Clergy Council hosts the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service and various prayer services at Town Hall and other venues in town. Last summer, they hosted an interfaith educational series on two pieces of sacred text. The leaders planning this Ramadan Meal hope to also enlighten attendees about the fasting tradition in each of the faiths – Islamic, Jewish, and Christian.
The Interfaith Community Meal will begin with each clergy leader sharing how fasting is used in his or her tradition to be closer to God. At sunset (7:25 p.m.) the meal will be served.
What better way to get to know our neighbors than to break bread together. Seating is limited and reservations must be made by contacting one of the clergy leaders involved in the event.
