It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William F. Wyrovsky, Jr., better known by his loved ones as Bill Wyrovsky, Dad/Pop and Gramps on March 18, 2024. In his final days, he was surrounded by loved ones, as he was throughout all of his life. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Bill was born on April 14, 1944, in Teaneck, N.J., and lived a fulfilling life rich with memories and experiences for 79 years. Raised in North Bergen and Ridgefield Park, he was stationed for two years in Germany before returning to Ridgefield Park, where he met and married MaryAnn in 1972. They moved to Verona in 1974, where they raised their five children and created a home filled with love, laughter and warmth.

Bill’s humble and humorous spirit was evident in his everyday life. He was a generous and loyal man, spending his career as a supervisor in the construction industry with J. Fletcher Creamer in Hackensack, before retiring after more than 50 years of dedicated service. His knack for problem-solving and his love for hands-on work did not retire with him, as he was always handy around the house, fixing any and everything that broke, while still finding the time to provide a supportive foundation for his beloved family. Despite his quiet and hardworking nature, Bill had an unrelenting sense of humor, and brought laughter to those around him until his final days. As a U.S. Army veteran, Bill embodied the qualities of courage and resilience, which resonated in his personal life as well. Bill split his time between Verona and Little Egg Harbor, where he spent countless hours toiling in his garden and growing enough vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs for his whole family and the neighborhood. In addition to digging in the dirt, he loved to feed and watch birds, read, listen to opera, make homemade jelly and pickles, and fish and go crabbing with his sons. When he was not with his family, Bill loved these simple but fulfilling activities that reflected his down-to-earth nature.

Family was what mattered most to Bill. He was a doting and loving father and grandfather and adored his wife of 51 years, cherishing the life they built together. He is survived by his children, whom he called his greatest accomplishment; William A. (Kerry) Wyrovsky, Mark (Erica) Wyrovsky, Lynn (John) Leighbody, Susan (David) Vail, and Glen Wyrovsky; his grandchildren William, Kathryn, Mark, Madeline, and David William; and his sisters Vivian Signorile, Marie Kilgallen, Alice Wiswesser, and Betty Mastrillo. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Viola Wyrovsky, and the love of his life, MaryAnn Wyrovsky.

A memorial visitation and service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at Prout Funeral Home, Inc., located at 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, New Jersey. Visiting will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the service commencing at 1 p.m.

Bill’s life was a testament to the qualities of generosity, humility, love, devotion, wisdom, and support. His memory will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him and will live on in the hearts of those who love him. We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Bill to the memorial page, to celebrate and remember his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
