Town Hall has been tallying up the numbers on the 2010 season at the Verona Pool and they look quite good, budget-wise.
The initial call for memberships produced 647 memberships in April alone. There were 261 more in May and a few stragglers in June, July and even August, for a total of 1,159 memberships this year, up from 1,114 for 2009. Though membership rates weren’t increased from 2009 to 2010, a shift in the membership mix meant Verona brought in $411,660 from memberships in 2010, up from $399,419 for last year and $408,470 for 2008.
But the biggest gain–in percentage terms–came in the sale of guest passes. Guest fees for 2010 totaled $38,054, up 70% from the $22,321 brought in in 2009. That included $1,1910 in guess ticket books, which were new this year; the town allowed members to buy packs of six tickets in advance for the price of five.
Town officials haven’t toted up all the numbers on expenses yet, but they say the pool definitely ended the season in the black.
