This year marks the 10th anniversary of New Jersey Makers Day. Verona Public Library will mark the occasion on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a day of activities and demonstrations that celebrate making, tinkering and STEM-based learning. All ages are invited.
Among the day’s events will be demonstrations by the Livingston Robotics Club. This volunteer-led group of students will display their creations and show the public how to build their own. They will exhibit from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“An Introduction to 3D Printing” will be featured at 2 p.m. Eddi Khaytman will present this interactive program that will demonstrate what can be achieved with this remarkable innovation. Watch the designing process in a CAD session and see actual examples of prints. You will be challenged to problem solve and determine how to design certain aspects of a project. The presenter will showcase how to manipulate shapes and perform easy and advanced operations on TinkerCAD.
Throughout the day, stations of different activities will be set up throughout the Library. Make a thaumatrope (and learn what that is!), fling a marshmallow with a catapult that you’ll make yourself, create some unique jewelry, and much, much more! These activities will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. while supplies last.
