It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Marie Simpson (nee DeLuca). She was born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey. She then raised her family in Verona where she lived for 61 years before moving to Mt. Arlington. Marie’s life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and an unwavering love for those around her. She was a beacon of strength, a generous spirit who poured her heart into everything she did, touching many lives in her journey.

Before retirement Marie was branch administrator for MetLife. She was a member of the Verona Seniors and displayed her generous spirit by volunteering at St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark. As a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona, Marie lived her faith, embodying the words of the scripture, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, travelling, decorating for holidays and shopping.

Marie’s life was not just about her accomplishments, but about the love she held for her family. She leaves behind her beloved children, Robert Simpson, Valerie (John) Regan, Michael (Kim) Simpson. Her love lives on in her cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Regan and Kate Regan (Everett), and her precious great-grandson, Chase Michael Regan. She also leaves behind many dear relatives and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Virginia DeLuca, her brother Thomas DeLuca, and Robert B. Simpson.

A visitation will be held for Marie G. Simpson on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Prout Funeral Home, Inc., located at 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, New Jersey, 07044. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, located at 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, New Jersey, 07044 (parking can be found behind the church, off of Montrose Avenue). Marie will be laid to rest immediately after the service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, located at 712 Grove Street, Montclair, New Jersey, 07043.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
