Mr. Edward J. Rich died on Sunday, January 13, 2023 at the Salem Medical Center, Mannington Township, New Jersey. He was 86 years old.
Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday, August 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington (Block 33) on Friday, August 18 at 12 noon.
Born in Newark, Mr. Rich lived in Bloomfield prior to moving to Verona in 1984. He started his career at the Newark Paper Box Co. in 1956, moving to the Koppers Chemical Co. for 16 years, until 1990, then went on to work for Kiefer Brush Company and ShopRite, until he retired in 2002.
Mr. Rich served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and then the U.S. Army Reserves for another six years. While serving in the Army he was in the U.S. Army Band.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 877 (NJ Oil, Chemical, & Terminal Workers Union) and also the International Brotherhood of Pulp, Sulfite & Papermill Workers, AFL-CIO.
He was the husband of the late Dolores Ann Sodano Rich and is survived by his daughter, Denise Soares, (her husband Abilio Soares) and his granddaughter, Savannah Soares.
