Ana C. Prieto, Former Resident

Ana Celia Garzon de Prieto passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023 in Livingston.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday July 7, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, followed by entombment in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, New Jersey.

Born in Bogota, Colombia to the late Emeterio and Rosa Garzon on January 6, 1928, Ana would later marry Luis Prieto in December of 1953. They lived in Bogota until 1965 when they moved to the United States. Here they would live in Kearny and Verona before moving to West Caldwell in 2001.

Ana believed in daily devotion to God and preparing special meals for her family.

In addition to her parents, Ana was predeceased by her husband and by her siblings, Rafaela, Maria Elena and Jorge.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosa Barron (and husband, Richard) and her beloved grandson, Marcello Hernandez. She is also survived by her many loved nieces and nephews in Colombia and the United States.

Ana’s family is grateful for the dedication and care from the staff at St. Barnabas Medical Center and from her enthusiastic and loving special caregivers at West Caldwell Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the West Caldwell Care Center Resident Activities Fund, 165 Fairfield Avenue, West Caldwell, NJ 07006 would be appreciated.
