Track Wins Medals, Breaks Record In Group Championships

Verona High School track and field competed in the Group Championships yesterday in Somerset at Franklin High School, where they faced off against top schools across the state. With only the top two medalists from each event advancing to the Meet of Champions on Wednesday, the competition was intense and brought out the best from the team.

A standout performance came from Ian Zalewski who placed second in both the 800M and 1600M races, earning him two spots in the upcoming meet.

The girls 4x100m relay team of Maille O’Neill, Gwen Neale, Marley Kramer and Sarah Knoetig also rose to the challenge, narrowly missing out on medaling but breaking school records with an impressive time of 51.55. Neale also narrowly missed second place in the 800M.
