The Verona Town Council will hold the first of three workshops on the 2016 municipal budget tonight, March 3, at Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m. in the Council chambers.
This will be the first budget prepared by the new Council majority, which had campaigned on a platform to reduce wasteful spending in town. Council member Alex Roman, Deputy Mayor Michael Nochimson and Mayor Kevin Ryan have already uncovered excessive overtime spending and an outdated telecommunications system that is costing Verona more than four times every month as much as a modern system.
If you want to read up on past budgets before heading out to tonight’s meeting, you can find all the budgets back to 2009 here.
There will be additional budget workshops on Thursday, March 10, and Tuesday, March 15.
