Forest Avenue School got an unexpected visit from the Verona Police and Fire departments today.
According to an email from Forest Principal Jeffrey Monacelli, a problem in the motor of one of the cafeteria ventilators experienced a short that caused some smoke and a burning smell. The VFD was called and the building was evacuated. No one was injured and there was no damage to the building. The faulty ventilator has been taken out of service.
“I want to thank the faculty, staff and students for leaving the building in an orderly fashion and following the proper evacuation procedures,” Monacelli wrote. “I also want to thank the Verona Police and Fire Departments for their quick response.”
