VFEE awarded a grant to bring famed composer Joseph Turrin to H.B. Whitehorne Middle School this winter.

This past fall, the Verona Foundation for Educational Excellence awarded $17,992.62 in grants to enhance education in Verona’s public schools. They ranged from $500 to help start a fishing club at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School to $6,000 for a program that will involve middle school students in the composition of a new concert band piece that they will then perform. (You can read about that here.)

Now, you can help it fund the next round of creative thinking. VFEE is holding a wine-tasting fundraiser at Avenue Bistro Pub on Thursday, February 7.

Hors d’oeuvres will be passed and paired with Segura Viudas Cava Sparkling.  For dinner, attendees will enjoy salad paired with Fault Line Sauvignon Blanc and roasted frenched chicken paired with Santa Rita 120 Merlot. After dinner, there will be a Venetian dessert table, featuring homemade fruit cobbler, assorted cookies, coffee and tea.

And lots of talk about what’s needed to advance education in Verona.

Tickets are $70 per person and all proceeds directly benefit the Verona Public Schools. To purchase an individual ticket or reserve a complete table, contact Melissa Collins at 973-857-1632 or send an e-mail.
