Two Verona churches are putting their own stamp this year on Halloween, which of course is the eveningĀ  before All Hallows or, as it has come to be known, All Saints Day.

The Youth Group of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is hosting two different Halloween events on Saturday, October 29. From 3 to 4 p.m. children of the community who are four to 8 years old are invited to a Halloween Party featuring crafts, songs, games and a ā€œnot too spooky!ā€ story. Everyone is encouraged to wear costumes. From 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a Haunted House in the basement of the church for (brave!) children and youth, 8 years and older. The church is requesting a $5 donation per child, which will go toward its Outreach Committee programs– cooking and serving meals to the hungry in soup kitchens and shelters of our community. The Outreach Committee will also receive your gently used and cleaned coats in bins at the entrance to the church, to be passed along to those in need.Ā

First Presbyterian Church will celebrate Halloween on Sunday, October 30 during coffee hour following worship at 10:15 a.m.. Children are invited to wear their costumes to church and Sunday School and to join in “ghastly games” during coffee hour. Activities for children and parents will include Halloween decorating, a pumpkin piƱata, and games as well as seasonal refreshments. During Sunday worship that morning, the church will celebrate All Saints Day by inviting worshippers to light candles in memory of those they have loved who have died.

First Presbyterian Church is at 10 Fairview Ave at the corner with Bloomfield Avenue. Parking is in back. The building is handicapped accessible.

Holy Spirit is located at 36 Gould Street, just opposite the field at HBW.
