Last year, Verona’s Samantha, Patricia and Molli Dowd won first place in Essex County’s Sustainable Homes Gingerbread Contest. Maybe this year will be your chance.

To win, you’ll have create a gingerbread house with natural accents and green building design features like skylights, solar panels and rain barrels. There are categories for adult professional and non-professional bakers, kids and groups or families.

If you’re interested, you’ve got to register by November 29 by calling the Essex County Environmental Center at 973-228-8776. All entries must be submitted by Monday, December 6. The homes will be on display at the center from December 6 through Saturday, December 18.
