Firefighters Drill Their Skills

On Wednesday October 27, the Verona Fire Department attended a live burn drill at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. They trained in the so-called taxpayer building, which has a street-level storefront, basement and second-floor apartments, just like the buildings on Bloomfield Avenue. In addition, the fire academy is the only one that burns hay during its exercises, simulating the heat and smoke conditions that a typical Verona building would present.
