Christine Ryan Sullivan, known to many as Chris or Dool, peacefully passed away on April 29, 2024, in Verona, surrounded by her family. Born on September 30, 1931, Christine was often found playing games with her grandchildren, scouring garage sales for hidden gems, or beating her friends at poker.

Christine is survived by her sons, Michael S. Sullivan (daughter-in-law Lourdes) and Jonathan P. Sullivan (daughter-in-law Debbie); and her grandchildren, Bridget, Mark, and Corinne Sullivan. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 53 years, Wallace (Wally) F. Sullivan, and her parents, Christine Gallagher Ryan and Pierce Ignatius Ryan.

Christine was born in Newark, raised in Belleville, summered at the Jersey Shore, and spent the last 60 years of her life in Verona. After graduating from Belleville High School in 1949, she attended Katharine Gibbs in New York City and graduated in 1950. She then went on to be a legal secretary for the former New Jersey State Attorney General.

Christine’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire. As she journeys to the great Casino in the sky, she is reunited with her lifelong love, Wally, where they will undoubtedly spend eternity playing poker together.

Visitation will be held at Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 3 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Graveside prayers will be held in the Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton on Friday at 12 Noon. Flowers can be sent directly to the funeral home.

In honor of Christine, we encourage friends and family to leave memories and upload photos to her memorial page at proutfhuneralhome.com .
