Junior Wrestling Captures Suburban League Crown Again

The Verona Junior Wrestling team has wrapped another strong season, earning a raft of podium spots at the Suburban League Tournament over the weekend at Verona High School. The team was once again a Suburban League co-champion, with Montclair and Nutley.

The team’s first place finishers include Luke Benanchietti (80 pounds), Austin LaValle (95) and Maksim Marrero (heavyweight).

Gerald DeLuisi captured second place at 65 pounds, and he was joined by Gus Ferrera (85) and Cole Quigley (90).

Max D’Alessio had a third-place finish at 60 pounds. Peter Pasqualichio (70) earned fourth place, as did Beckett Spiegeland (126). Wesley Shafer (100) and Tyler Lesperance (105) got fifth place in their respective weight class.
