Scott Collins, 62 years old, died suddenly on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Wednesday, February 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, February 29 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona.
Scott, born in Montclair, was a lifelong resident of Verona, graduating from Verona High School with the Class of 1979. He attained degrees from the County College of Morris and Seton Hall University and was the owner of Scott Collins Landscaping for 20 years. He began a second career as a facilities manager for the Bloomfield Board of Education and happily completed his tenure at the Midland Park Board of Education.
Scott was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, where he was chair of the Octoberfest Event for a few years and a previous volunteer with the youth trip to Guatemala. He provided his expertise in assisting in the planting of trees and creation of the butterfly garden at F.N. Brown School. In addition, he was a member of the Mount Saint Dominic Academy Parents’ Association.
Scott was a lover of sportfishing, sailing and pickleball. Most of all, Scott enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Anna (nee Prosuk) Collins; his daughter, Jacqueline Collins; his mother, Marsha Collins and his brother, Christopher Collins. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Collins.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
