Glenn David Smith, 67, beloved husband of Abby Catedral Smith, Hernando, Florida, died on February 19, 2024 in Hernando after a year-long battle with brain/lung cancer.

Glenn was born on June 27, 1956, the son of Shirley Carlen Smith of Cromwell, Connecticut, and the late Elmer William Smith. He graduated from Verona High School in 1974, from County College of Morris in 1976, and in 1980 from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a BS degree in engineering technology. Building on that foundation, he went on to develop a richly varied career, primarily in structural development and improvement. He enjoyed camping and traveling within the U.S. and to the Philippines. He moved to Florida in 2016 where he enjoyed retirement, fishing, and working in his garden growing beautiful orchids. He also was known for his cooking skills, making Swedish pancakes, cookies and coffee bread, etc., taught to him by his Swedish grandmother. His creativity, enthusiasm and desire to help others will be missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Abby; sister, Nancy Verrill, Beverly Hills, Florida; brothers Randy (Leslie) Smith, Rockaway, New Jersey, and Bradley Smith, Swanzey, New Hampshire. He also leaves his son, Timothy (Morgan) Smith, of Rockledge, Pennsylvania; daughter Laura Meininger of Jamestown, Kentucky; adored grandchildren, Nora, Zoe and Micah Smith of Rockledge; Gracelynn Mather, Hunter, Lucas, Serenity, Ryder, Colton and Easton Meininger of Jamestown; and mother of his children, Judith Smith, Budd Lake, New Jersey. A graveside service in the Memorial Garden at Bethany Covenant Church, Berlin, Connecticut, will be held in the spring.
