Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church will host a public veneration of a relic of the Apostle St. Jude Thaddeus and special mass on Monday, December 18. The public veneration of the arm of the apostle will be from 2 to 10 p.m. and the mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Pilgrims will receive an extraordinary Plenary Indulgence issued by Pope Francis and published by the Vatican’s Apostolic Penitentiary.
According to OLL, the apostle was the son of Mary of Clopas, and has come to be regarded as the patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations. Saint Jude’s body was buried in the place of his martyrdom but was transferred to Rome during the time of Emperor Constantine. His tomb rests directly below the main altar of the left transept of St. Peter’s Basilica. Several centuries ago, his arm was removed and placed in a simple wooden reliquary. OLL is a stop on a national tour, which is the first time the relic has left Italy.
Our Lady of the Lake is located at 22 Lakeside Avenue in Verona.
