On Thanksgiving morning Helen Robinson entered into eternal rest. Helen and her twin sister Elizabeth (Betty) were born on November 12, 1928 in Kearny, New Jersey to Peter and Catherine Higgins. Helen and Bill Robinson were high school sweethearts married 49 years until his death in 2002. They raised their six children, first in West Orange and then in Verona where they lived for 30 years. In 1998 they moved to Lakewood, N.J., and later she moved to Morristown to be closer to her daughters.

Helen was a life-long fan of the Yankees, the Giants and a follower of current events. She loved playing cards and telling stories. Up until the very end she was staying up on politics, her grandchildren and great granddaughter’s lives. Well into her nineties she was proud that she would balance her checkbook to the penny.

Helen was pre-deceased by her husband William, her brother Peter Higgins Jr., her sisters; Mary Higgins, Catherine Hayner and her beloved twin, Betty Gerris.

Helen is survived by her five daughters; Maureen Nixon (Richard), Catherine Willner (John Gilmer), Elizabeth Patton (Bill), Susan Ruban (Charlie) and Teresa Edwards (Pete, her favorite of all of us), her son, Marty Robinson (Cindy), her 15 grandchildren; Fae, James, Joe, Caroline, Max, Sam, Annie, Natalie, Will, Ben, Tess, Molly, Emma, Will and Declan. And her great-granddaughter, Mia. Her nieces and nephews on the Robinson and Higgins side and countless friends.

In the words of Saint Paul of Queens:

“Coo, coo, ca-choo Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know”
