Verona High School sent 13 students to the International DECA Business Competition in Anaheim, California on April 26.

Students competed in a variety of tests, role plays and academics. Caity Eng received a medal for her role play, scoring in the top 13 scores in the world in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Competition.

Kai-Pai Rackley and Noella Newman received a Gold Certification for School-Based Enterprise for their work with the DECA Snack Cart and presenting a business plan for the enterprise. Eight students–Zia Mahmood, Jackson Pope, Luca DiFabrizio, Owen Chanana, Matt Raff, Luke Fenton, Mason Rossi and Charlie Pepe–were among the top 25 from the North Atlantic Region in the Stock Market Game. These students presented their portfolio management strategies to judges in Anaheim.

The group also participated in some extracurricular experiences outside the competition. They attended a taping of The Jeopardy Masters Tournament (the episode will air May 20 at 8 p.m. on ABC), visited amusement parks, traded DECA hats and pins, and networked with over 20,000 high school DECA students from around the world.

The club says it would like to thank all of the community members who contributed to make this trip possible.
