Lawrence J. McNeil, known to many as Larry, passed away on June 20, 2023 in Livingston. Born on September 26, 1960, Lawrence was known as a Stephen King stalker, Star Trek aficionado and avid fisherman, as well as a charismatic and knowledgeable individual. His impact on the lives of those around him will not be forgotten, and he is deeply missed by his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Regina McNeil; their daughter, Rita Ferrier, son-in-law, James Ferrier, and grandson, Liam Ferrier; mother, Ann McNeil; brothers, John and Stephen McNeil; sisters-in-law, Kelly and Christine McNeil; niece Taylor McNeil; and nephews Gregory, Thomas, Jake, and Ryan McNeil.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph McNeil.

Over the course of his 30-year career, Larry worked in New York City as a business manager of NY Hotel Trades Council IBFO Local 56 and former recording secretary of the Trades Council, as well as chairman of the Grievance Board and co-chairman of the Health and Safety Committee. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989, serving with Military Intelligence in Germany. As a testament to his intelligence and dedication to learning, he earned a bachelor of arts from Fordham University and a masters from George Washington University.

Larry was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Orangeburg, New YorkY, and was a resident of Verona for over 25 years. At the time of his passing, he was a resident of Equinunk, Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on the Delaware River.

Visitation will be held at Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1 to 4 p.m. Flowers can be sent directly to the funeral home.
