To the Editor:

As retired Verona school system teachers and importantly, as seniors, we are often left out of the discussion and forgotten even though we remain an active and vocal part of the community. Seniors participate as volunteers, attend fundraisers for VFEE, among others, attend Rescue Squad and Fire Department pancake breakfasts and take an active role at various meetings. Even though we’re seniors, we still care greatly about the future of our town and we want our elected officials to recognize our concern and participation.

We want to elect the people who show up when work needs to be done; people that aren’t afraid to act when action is needed. We want representatives that understand the needs of all age groups; representatives that value the volunteers who serve on all our town services and committees; representatives who give much of themselves to Verona.

We’ve watched both Forums carefully, have read various campaign literatures and have done this for each of our local elections. We’ve concluded that we want our representatives to the Verona Town Council to be people who have also given their time and talent to the citizens of Verona because they care about ALL of us. Jack McEvoy is that individual. He includes all of us in his view of the township, has given much time to the residents of Hillwood Terrace and has worked hard to include senior participation on our boards and committees. He truly values us as a part of the community.

We know that Jack McEvoy has the EXPERIENCE in Verona that we need. He has spent years learning, growing, listening and taking action to serve us and our needs. He knows Verona and its spirit. He is forward thinking, knows how to lead, and considers the entire electorate when discussing important issues. His goal has always been and remains to make Verona a better place. So we will be supporting Jack McEvoy for Town Council and hope you will, too. He is the leader we ALL need.
