Cianna Winkler is kicking off her fifth annual drive to collect winter coats for the needy today, Saturday, October 29.
Clean, gently used coats can be dropped off at three locations around Verona: the Verona Community Center, First Presbyterian Church and Verona Jazzercise, which is at 546 Bloomfield Avenue just opposite the entrance to Verona Park. All coats will be donated to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair.
Winkler has been engaged in a variety of community service initiatives over the years, most recently helping to organize a program to bring hot meals to those in need on the first Sunday of every month. Since its inception, her coat drive has collected thousands of coats. Winkler is an active pageant competitor and was most recently crowned Miss America’s Gateway Outstanding Teen 2017.
The last day for dropping off coats is Saturday, December 3.
