On Monday, the fourth grade students of Brookdale Avenue School performed the annual Astro Nova dance for their families and the school.
Astro Nova is a modern dance program which celebrates the creation of the universe. Choreographer and dance instructor, Rhonda Holland, led the program while professional percussionist, Rudy Bird, provided accompaniment.
This cross-curricular program, funded by the Brookdale SCA, requires student rehearsals after school as well as designing and decorating their own individual masks during Art class. Brookdale students have been performing Astro Nova for approximately 15 years.
